Diego Suarez or Antsiranana which is the northern capital of Madagascar, is located at the northern top of Madagascar, a few kilometers from the rainforest of Amber Mountain. Mangrove landscapes, lagoon coast of the Indian Ocean and the Mozambique Channel with a dry tropical vegetation zones limestone cliffs that surround the bay.
The Masoala National Park is located in the north-east of Madagascar. It is one of the few parks of Madagascar where the primary forest drops more than 1300 m to the sea and this is the largest protected area of the island with its 235,000 ha of wet rainforest.
In the southwest of the park, the forest is still in direct contact with the sea and spray. This type of ecotone has become very rare because of coastal roads that were created almost anywhere in the world. It offers a good example of landscape eco integrity.
