THE SOUTHERN ROAD TO IFATY

Day 1: Antananarivo 

Meet & greet at the airport by the team of Madagascar Tours & Travel and transfer to your hotel.

Day 2: Antananarivo – Antsirabe (170km + / – 3h)

After breakfast, departure to join Antsirabe, through the highland landscapes and admire the rice fields, small villages and other surprises … Arriving at Ambatolampy, we will visit the foundry aluminum which is the basis of their daily life, they produce casserole, football table… Have lunch in a small typical Malagasy restaurant then continue to Antsirabe. Upon arrival, check into your hotel and visit the “city of water”, and why not rickshaw…

Day 3: Antsirabe – Ambositra – Ranomafana (280km + / – 6h)

After breakfast, we will visit the small corners of artisans starting with Mr. Mamy and workshop miniature (rickshaws, bicycles, cars …), its embroideries. Ms.Maminirina and workshop horn that produces valuables with horns zebu … Mr. Marcel and confectionery workshop and Malagasy candy … Then Mr. Joseph and gemstones. After the visits, departure to join Ranomafana through Ambositra which is the capital of the Malagasy handicrafts which is renowned for inlay and carvings precious wood (Rosewood). Have lunch before visiting the workshops and then on to Ranomafana, leaving the landscape of uplands and entering the area of ​​the rainforest. Settle into your hotel and evening visit before dinner.

Day 4: Ranomafana – Fianarantsoa (70km + / – 1h30min)

After breakfast, transfer to the entrance of Ranomafana National park to discover its fauna and flora. It is also a World Natural Heritage in the East and is home to a rich and highly endemic biodiversity. You’ll find lemurs, medicinal plants, orchids … After the visit, have lunch and visit the small spa town of Ranomafana before taking the road to Fianarantsoa. Upon arrival, visit the old city and its streets, and also see the design of traditional houses and transfer to your hotel.

Day 5: Fianarantsoa – Ambalavao – Ranohira/Isalo (370km +/- 6h) 

After breakfast, departure to join Ranohira (Isalo). Through Ambalavao, we will visit the wine cellar, workshop manufacturing Antemoro papers, wild silks. Easy walk to admire the old colonial houses with its famous conservatories. Continue to the village nature reserve «Anja «to meet the lemurs. You will also find tombs, medicinal plants … After the visit departure to Ranohira through the highlands of Horombe with a landscape that must undoubtedly arouse your curiosity. Upon arrival, check into your hotel.


Day 6: Ranohira / Isalo

After breakfast, transfer to the Isalo National Park to discover its fauna and flora. The massive ruin forms `s Isalo is a sandstone plateau of continental Jurassic. Heavily eroded, the only witnesses fragmented by sandy valleys and canyons remain: a truly exceptional show. You’ll find lemurs, medicinal plants, orchids, endemic birds, natural pools.

Day 7: Ranohira / Isalo – Tulear – Ifaty (270Km + / – 5h)

Transfer to Tulear through the highlands of Horombe. Through the village of Sapphire Ilakaka then continue to Tulear with desert landscapes. Upon arrival, take lunch to Tulear. Continue to the sandy Ifaty road and Installation in your hotel.

Day 8: Ifaty

Free days to enjoy the beauty of the region. Tours are available in your hotel. You can visit the Reniala reserve to see endemic species of baobabs…

Day 9: Ifaty – Tulear – Antananarivo (30 km + / – 2h and 1h15 flight)

Transfer to Tulear then continue to the airport for your flight to Antananarivo. Meet at the airport and then visit the historic old city of Antananarivo. Starting with the splendid view of Antananarivo, and to further the Queen’s Palace (under construction), the former Palace of justices, the Andafiavaratra Palace, which houses the exhibition of objects saved from the fire of the Palace Queen in 1995. Andohalo place is the oldest public square in Antananarivo and transfer to your hotel. After dinner, transfer to the airport for your international flight.
